Boliden profits rise 21% on stronger Cu, Zn prices

Boliden's profits rose 21% in the first nine months of 2009 amid strong copper and zinc prices and improving demand for the base metals in the third quarter. Net profit from January to September was SEK1.68 billion ($247.7 million) compared with SEK1.39 billion in the corresponding months last year, the company said. Third-quarter net profit rose to SEK684 million from a loss of SEK135 million in the third quarter of 2008. But revenue for the nine-month period dropped to SEK19.27 billion from SEK24.7 billion in the corresponding three quarters last year, including a 7% decline between July to September.
